Illumination Is the New Interior Sensation
"The library is on the sixth floor. A map, a cross section of the tower, distributed upon exiting the elevator informs me how to use the collection’s various departments that are spread over one level. I remove volumes from the shelves. I photograph images in books, aerial views and advertisements in publications dealing with the technical sciences of city management, frost action in soil, textiles for technical applications and mass transportation."
Born in 1987,
Laurianne Bixhain
lives and works in Luxemburg. Her work focuses notably on the various types of lighting we encounter, the way we receive digital images, the sensual dimension of images, the materiality and spatiality of printed matter, architectural scales, the texture of built surfaces and of the spaces we encounter in the city, the use and the designation of these spaces, our motion, vehicles and how they are driven, transport, capsule, the interlocking of concrete and mental spaces.
